The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2024 BET Awards

Of all the glittering award ceremonies held each year, few are quite as culturally influential as the BET Awards. At the 24th annual BET Awards, held at Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre, actor Taraji P. Henson returned to host for the third time in its history, and despite his widely publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar, Drake proved to be the most-nominated artist of the evening, including nominations for best album of the year and best collaboration for "Rich Baby Daddy" featuring Sexyy Red and SZA. Other nominees at the 24th BET Awards included Victoria Monét (best female R&B/pop artist), Tyla (best new artist), and Issa Rae (best actress).

With so many A-listers in attendance at this year's BET Awards, awards weren't exactly the only thing on our minds. Fashion has been a major draw for many viewers ever since the first BET Awards red carpet was graced by super-stylish guests like Gwen Stefani and Eve. Still, while most celebs manage to blow our minds with their awards-show attire, some celebrity red carpet outfits can miss the mark entirely. In case you didn't catch a glimpse of the stars strutting their stuff, we've gathered a few of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2024 BET Awards for your viewing pleasure.

Andrea Cano didn't influence us with this look

Dressing for an awards show ceremony's red carpet is no easy task, as evidenced by some of the misguided beauties on our worst-dressed lists throughout the years. Influencer Andrea Cano's heart was in the right place with this mauve ensemble, but it felt far more appropriate for a school dance than an awards show. Aside from Cano's rather casual gown, the choice of a color-matched clutch, strappy silver heels, and minimalistic jewelry added to the overall prom-night vibes.

Cisely Saldana's dress and accessories felt divided

There are plenty of things to love about Cisely Saldana's black-and-white outfit at the 2024 BET Awards, so we'll start with the good parts first. The adorably mod color palette is a definite win, from the camellia-blossom heels to the classy flap bag. Yet, while we admire Saldana's choice to wear such an unusual silhouette, the flouncy, tiered dress didn't mesh well with the rest of her bold accessories. A little editing would have gone a long way for the star, though we commend her striking sense of style.

Khadeen Ellis' look lacked structure

Flanked by her husband, "Zatima" actor and former NFL player Devale Ellis, Khadeen Ellis looked ethereal in white at the 2024 BET Awards. But similar to Cisely Saldana, the silhouette of Khadeen's dress let her down. Though there's an unquestionably avant-garde element at play in this look, the curvature of its high-low hem felt unfinished. Whether it could use more or less structure is anyone's guess, but we're not fans of its current form.

Ashley Marie Jones needed a necklace (or two)

Another worst-dressed guest arriving alongside her beau was Ashley Marie Jones, who attended the 2024 BET Awards hand in hand with "L.A.'s Finest" actor Duane Martin. Even though Jones' dress is a definite improvement on the standard issue "prom dress-to-red carpet" look, it still left us feeling a bit miffed in the end. Between the gown's muted sage green color and a complete lack of eye-catching accessories, we couldn't help but feel bored by this star's unambitious attire.

Muni Long's dress couldn't have been comfortable

Although we love several aspects of Muni Long's look, we can't come to grips with its impractical length. We thought we'd seen it all throughout Ariana Grande's style transformation, including some of the tiniest micro-mini dress hems, but Long gave her a run for her money with this silvery BET Awards look. The super-short garment featured a dazzling finish, beautiful tailoring, and perfectly coordinated accessories. Still, it's hard not to feel secondhand discomfort for Long!

Bellah's silhouette got lost in her dress

Rising star Bellah earned a BET Award nomination for the best new international act category, so it's easy to see why she'd bring her all on the red carpet for the event. And while there's something to be said for the glizorous details of her tiny black dress, from its sculptural skirt to its bow-like bust, it suffered from the same problem as Muni Long's look. Comically short hemline aside, Bellah dazzled us with her style at the 2024 BET Awards, so we look forward to seeing what other looks she has in store.

Halle Bailey's look left us overheated

It may come as a shock to see Halle Bailey anywhere aside from the best-dressed list, so allow us to explain. Though everyone's favorite "The Little Mermaid" star rocked this slinky, inky black gown, it wasn't our favorite look on the 2024 BET Awards red carpet. While the slick-looking fabric fit Bailey perfectly from head to toe, we couldn't help but think its flattened train reminded us of crumpled plastic. Furthermore, the leather-clad look had us sweating on Bailey's behalf, leading us to believe that some lace or mesh embellishments would have made a world of difference.

Ice Spice's dress made us shed a tear

Ice Spice isn't one to shy away from sultrier styles, but her monochromatic orange look at the 2024 BET Awards failed to win us over. Between the inexplicable teardrop cutout and the ruched drop-waist beneath her navel, there were a number of dizzying details in this flamenco-inspired slip. While the gown's bright, citrusy hue is certainly one of the "Barbie World" rapper's go-to colors, a neutral shade may have helped tie things together seamlessly for the star.

Tara DeVeaux casual-formal fusion fell flat

There's something special about red-carpet fashion that effortlessly blends the likes of casual and formalwear. Unfortunately, Burrell Communications CEO Tara DeVeaux's fashion didn't manage to pull off this fusion style at the 2024 BET Awards. DeVeaux's black blazer was a chic choice, as was the perfect mix of statement and subtle jewelry pieces. However, the unusual mishmash of a denim miniskirt and floor-length black satin wasn't easy on the eyes, landing DeVeaux's almost-there look a spot on our worst-dressed list.

Tinashe's 'fit would've worked better at Coachella

It pains us to add Tinashe to our list of worst-dressed celebs at the 2024 BET Awards, but it's hard to justify her shredded outfit at the evening's event. The "Nasty" singer's Y2K-inspired, strappy undergarments were partially obscured by what appeared to be a tie-dyed gray slip dress that had seen one too many dryer cycles. And while it may have earned her a spot on our worst-dressed list for this event, we would kind of love this celebrity look for a festival or punk show. Rock on, Tinashe.
