The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2024 ACM Awards

On Thursday, May 16, the Academy of Country Music Awards graced our TV screens for the 59th year. This year, the show was once again held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Reba McEntire hosted for the 17th time, with the "I'm a Survivor" singer even performing during the live event. Naturally, we tuned in watch which country singers would get awarded the coveted rising cowboy hat trophy, but before that could happen, there were winners — and losers — on the red carpet.

Aside from McEntire, we saw some big hitters in country music arrive, including Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson, both of whom vied for the entertainer of the year award. Both have had some misses on the red carpet over the course of their careers, but Wilson didn't disappoint this year with a red power blazer and pants set, complete with a matching cowboy hat. As for Jelly Roll, he played it safe with a camel-colored leather jacket over a black shirt and pants. While he didn't make Gliz's worst-dressed list, his wife, Bunnie Xo, unfortunately did — but she wasn't alone. Plenty of celebs missed the mark at the 2024 ACM Awards, including (gasp) the host.

Reba McEntire's mismatched red carpet look was head-scratching

As the host of the 2024 ACM Awards, Reba McEntire's grand entrance on the red carpet was highly anticipated. Alas, if there was background music playing, it would have screeched to a halt. The "I Can't" singer had on an amazing chic blazer that was not best styled with curious sheer lace pants with fringe details on the legs. Her top screamed "power woman," while the bottom was more '70s Western gliz. This look would have been more cohesive if McEntire committed to just one aesthetic.

Gwen Stefani dressed like a bird, and we flocked away from her

Gwen Stefani usually brings the fashion no matter if she's rocking the stage or hanging out with hubby Blake Shelton in Oklahoma, so it was disappointing to see her not in her usual blinged-out style for the ACM Awards' red carpet. Instead, she wore a feathered suede jacket and matching skirt that looked like she was channeling Pocahontas. Sure, it was made by Roberto Cavalli, but it was a bit too woodsy for a gliz event. One fan even asked on Instagram, "Are y'all going hunting after the show??!"

Avril Lavigne did the very least for the ACM Awards

We understand Avril Lavigne likes a "Sk8er Boi," but we don't get why she dressed up as one for the red carpet with a black System of a Down hoodie and ripped bell-bottom jeans. It looked as if she was dressed for a dive bar instead of the ACM Awards, which requires more than a just-rolled-out-of-bed look. At the very least, she could have put on a cowboy hat to hit the country theme. Instead, she channeled her 2022 song, "I'm a Mess."

Madeline Haney's red Y2K tube dress was, well, so 2000

ACM Awards attendees were either decked out in sparkles or dressed like they were going to a Y2K prom. It was the latter for Dustin and Madeline Haney, who opted for a more casual feel. Madeline sported a bright-red satin tube dress from the early aughts. She could have jazzed up her 'fit with some accessories, but sadly, the only one she adorned was a sad-looking silver watch on her wrist. Hopefully, it told her that it was time to leave this dress in the past.

Karen Fairchild looked like the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz

Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild blinded onlookers during the 2024 ACM Awards, but not in a good way. Her silver, one-shouldered dress and matching knee-high boots were reminiscent of the Tin Man from the "Wizard of Oz." If she only had the heart to choose a different fit. Perhaps she should have coordinated with her fellow group member Kimberly Schlapman and chosen a red dress instead, which would have looked fire with her brunette hair.

Kassi Ashton's dress was more home-stiched boho than red carpet event

Kassi Ashton is one of country music's rising stars, but her fashion sense is on the decline thanks to her ACM Awards 'fit. Instead of going red-carpet gliz, she chose an outfit one would see in Party City around Halloween. It turns out that Ashton's look was courtesy of herself. "I'm stoked to wear my outfit, I made it," she told Audacy before the event. "I hope people that know me, when they see the outfit will go, 'That's so her!'" she added. Unfortunately, they will, but for the wrong reasons.

Bunnie Xo brought Vegas to Texas

Country music star Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie Xo had a life in Las Vegas long before she met her now-husband, and it seems like she can't shake her past. The "Dumb Blonde" podcast host donned a sparkly midnight-blue gown with gold details that looked more at home in Sin City than in Frisco. We all know she's not one to go casual, but we would have loved to see her in a sexy leather maxi dress that matched Jelly Roll's jacket rather than something out of Vanna White's "Wheel of Fortune" closet.

Reyna Roberts 2024 ACM 'fit had too much going on

Reyna Roberts calls herself the "Princess of Outlaw Country," but her outfit at the 2024 ACM Awards is what should be outlawed. Her black bustier corset top looked good for any occasion, but the peach-colored satin overlay on the bottom clashed with her fire-engine red hair and looked like a window scarf valance. We think she should have ditched her bottom and gone for a pair of black bell-bottom pants, which seemed to be the theme of the evening.

Kylie Morgan's peach ensemble was a bedazzle project gone wrong

Peach is definitely Kylie Morgan's color, and she would have slayed with this dress and jacket combo had it not been for some tacky add-ons. Not everything has to be blinged out to be fancy, and the strategic placement of some crystal adornments put her dress over to the wrong side of fashion. The cape jacket would have added an element of haute-couture drama, but the rhinestone effect just made the whole 'fit look overly showgirl-esque.

Miranda Lambert's turquoise belt clashed with her dress

Miranda Lambert was one of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2023 ACM Awards, and sadly, she made it onto this year's list as well. The "Hell on Heels" singer wore a black halter dress with a deep V-cut, which was stylish albeit a bit boring, but she missed the mark with her belt. It looked like a thrift store find that was way too casual for a red-carpet look. If she had to wear a belt, a black leather one would have been a lot edgier.
